Alpine

Australian six-piece Alpine just dropped Gasoline, the latest cut from their record A Is For Alpine, scheduled for release in January 2013. Airy female vocals and bleepy electronic rhythms drive the track, making Gasoline a neat slice of synth-pop.

Gonzales - Solo Piano ll

The Canadian multi-instrumentalist (Chilly) Gonzales will finally release the sequel to his amazing 2004 Solo Piano album, cunningly titled Solo Piano II. The album features 14 new instrumental piano pieces, which were recorded over a ten day period at Studio Pigalle in Paris earlier this year. You can now watch a video for the first song Othello.

For those of you new to Gonzales, he has played together with big acts like Feist and Jamie Lidell, written film scores and worked as a solo MC and entertainer, making records since the late 90´s.

Solo Piano II drops on August 27th via Gentle Threat.

JJ - High Summer

A couple of days ago JJ released a new five track EP, called High Summer.  Download it for free here.

Two Inch Punch

Londoner Ben Ash, better known as Two Inch Punch, caught my attention with last year’s Love You Up EP and his lush rework of Metronomy’s The Look a few months ago. Here's the brand new single Moon Struck, the first cut from T.I.P's upcoming EP,Saturn: The Slow Jams

Todd Terje - Inspector Norse (Video)

Words cannot describe how much I like Todd Terje and his amazing track Inspector Norse - released earlier this spring. Finally, today a video for the track was released.

This clip from the short film Whateverest follows Inspector Norse, the real life internet alias of Marius Solem Johanson, who has a penchant for dancing and drugs.

Dirty Projectors

Nifty, laid-back, hand clapping track from Brooklyn's Dirty Projectors. Here is Dance For You.

Jessie Ware

South Londoner Jessie Ware is on a roll. After collaborating with some of the biggest UK producers, including SBTRKT, she has turned into one of the most exciting vocalists to emerge from the UK underground lately. Her latest single Wildest Moments is  full of 80s glamour and depth - a little less electronic than her previous material like the similarly impressive 110%. Ware's debut album Devotion is due for release on 20th August.

Emil & Friends

The very first time I featured Emil & Friends here, I falsely stated that the actor, Emile Hirsch was behind this enigmatic moniker (several rumors and bios implied this). However, (and I'm not sure I've made this clear before) the guy behind E&F is no one else than the Bostonian Emil Hewitt. Yesterday he released this B-side from his Crystal Ball EP. Listen to Slowly, But Surely below.

...don't miss these two:

Noosa

The New York-based pop duo of Sky Barbarick and Matt Buszko a.k.a Noosa follow up their successful first single Fear Of Love with the release of their self-titled debut EP. The beautiful Del Rey-tinged Walk on By kicks things off with a haunting piano line, Barbarick’s strong vocal delivery and slowly builds into an infectious chorus. And really, the rest of the EP is just as good. Things are looking bright for this duo. Listen to the whole EP below.

Tennis X Vacationer

I'm totally in love with Vacationer's new remix on the Denver trio Tennis' track Petition. Minimalist pop meets Nu-hula on this amazing,  highly beach compatible piece of brilliance.

Poolside

Good news - the LA-based duo behind one of my favorite songs last year, Poolside of Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradise will finally release their debut album, Pacific Standard Time. It will be out on July 9 and now you can watch the video to their chilled out first single Slow Down. Also, make sure to check out the previously posted finger-snapping cuts Harvest Moon (Neil Young cover)and Do You Believe below.

We Have Band

Great track and a nice video from the London trio We Have Band. The song is taken from the album Ternion.

'The song is framed as an internal dialogue and its about being honest with yourself and not running away from the past or things you know you need to face within yourself. There's a bit of a half time beat to it which is nice to groove to, it’s a current favorite of ours to play live.

The video was shot just outside of Paris in Marley Le Roi in a fort where the ex French Presidents used to go hunting before it was banned. It's the first video we've filmed outside of a studio so the idea was to work with the surroundings as much as we could and play with natural lighting and shadows. Apart from the opening and closing scene we didn't use any artificial lighting.'

Onra

I was happy to discover that the Parisian producer Onra released a disco-heavy five track EP, Deep In The Night on Fool’s Gold Records the other day. Here's two cuts from the release.

Check out previous post on Onra here, and a bonus track below:

Sinkane

Today Sinkane released his latest tune, Runnin.  After touring as drummer with big acts like Yeasayer, Caribou and of Montreal, the Sudanese-born musician Ahmed Gallab has started to make a big name for himself. Some of you might remember the previous post with Sinkane's first single Jeeper Creeper. Debut album out this fall.

Anna Lunoe & Flume

Sydney DJ/producer and vocalist Anna Lunoe teamed up with rising producer Flume for this beautiful tune, I Met You. Watch the beautiful, psychedelic video, directed by Melvin J. Montalban. The track is taken from the Anna Lunoe & Friends EP Real Talk on Future Classic.

ROSTAM

Never thought I´d post a song by Carly Rae Jepsen. Furthermore, mashups usually isn't my cup of tea. However - when Vampire Weekend's orchestrator Rostam Batmanglij takes Jepsen's #1 US hit Call Me Maybe and mixes it with Annie Lennox's Walking On Broken Glass the result is in some way interesting enough to share. You'll be the judge.

'this one is strictly for the lulz' - ROSTAM

...And this one is to show the full ingenuity of Rostam:

GRiZ

The Detroit, MI producer GRiZ returns with a chilled-out, funky summer banger. You Got To Change features vocals from Evil Ways by Santana, a verse from 2Pac’s Changes and a fly beat (with a little RJD2-vibe) on top of that.

Download the track HERE.

alt-J (∆)

I just stumbled across the unique sounds by the English newcomers alt-J (∆). The band formed at Leeds University in 2007 but just recently released their amazing debut album. The spellbinding video for Breezeblocks is definitely one of the best I've seen this year. Watch it below and be sure to check out the rest of the groups debut album, An Awesome Wave

Passion Pit - I'll Be Alright

A little more than a month left 'til Passion Pit release their second album, Gossamer. The five piece from Massachusetts just shared another track from the album. Gossamer hits the shelves July 23

Second Date

Second Date (London) just released the video for the excellent track Young, Beautiful, Etc. from last year. Listen to the tune and watch the visuals below.

J.M.F.

Give this jam a couple of minutes and I assure you - it's hard not to start smiling. J.M.F is the new project of Dresden's Jacob Korn and Leipzig’s Good Guy Mikesh & Filburt. The balearic feel-good tune Philipp Dolphia is the lead cut on J.M.F.'s debut EP. Out on June 15.

Hot Chip - In Our Heads (Album Release)

Today Hot Chip released their new album, In Our Heads. I think it's safe to say that it'll be one of the most played albums this summer.

FAYE

Fanny Hamlin, a.k.a FAYE, is the next swedish act in line to produce big electronic sounds, much reminiscent of Niki And The DoveFever Ray and Lykke Li. Listen to her first single, Water Against The Rocks (produced by Montauk) - a grand, atmospheric electropop ballad. Single out on June 25th and FAYE's debut album is due out this fall.

Vacationer X Teen Daze

I've featured the dreamy tune, Trip, by Vacationer earlier. I've also posted a couple of nice remixes by Teen Daze before. Here is a combination of the two. Amazing.
